Session 9

Creative

As an early educator, your job is to discover and nurture the creativity in every child so that they grow to be creative problem-solvers. Creativity involves generating novel ideas in alternative, previously un-imagined ways, and it engages curiosity, risk taking, and imagination. Creative behavior must be original, relevant, fluent (occurs frequently and with ease) and flexible (uses nontraditional approaches) (Isenberg & Jalongo, 2010).

You will learn the following ways to support children's creativity:

· Environments That Promote Creativity.

· Creativity Through Daily Interactions and Experiences.

· Promoting the Visual Arts.

· Creativity Through Music, Movement, and Dance.

· Creativity Through Dramatic Play and Story Retelling.
