Session 8 Communication

To Advance Physical and Intellectual Competence

As an early educator, you play a pivotal role in helping the children in your setting develop a strong foundation of language and literacy so that they are prepared to start school. You achieve this through your learning environment and how you interact with the children within the environment, like reading aloud to them, small and large group meetings, and daily routines.

You will examine the following ways in which you can foster children's language and literacy development:

  • Creating an Environment That Supports Language and Literacy.
  • Supporting Children's Oral Language Development.
  • Fostering Children's Reading Development
  • Fostering Children's Writing Development
  • Partnering With Families.
